Gifted & Talented
Gifted and Talented at Evergreen Middle
Evergreen Middle School’s Gifted and Talented Center program provides support for the academic and social emotional needs of our gifted community. Our gifted students are taught by certified gifted and talented educators who differentiate based on student need. Students are cohorted into predominantly GT learner-based core classes.
As a Gifted and Talented Center School, in addition to resources such as a nurse, and psychologist/social worker, Evergreen Middle School students, staff and guardians, have access to a GT Resource Teacher and a GT Social Emotional Learning Counselor. Our GT Resource Teacher provides services to students, teachers, administrators and parents in order to meet individual student needs around identification and academic planning. Our GT Social Emotional Learning Counselor supports the academic, social/emotional and unique developmental needs of GT students through classroom guidance lessons, small groups, and individual meetings.

Gifted & Talented in Jeffco
The Jeffco Public Schools Gifted and Talented (GT) Department’s vision is to Actualize Learners’ Potential for gifted and high-ability learners through a focus on access, equity, inclusion and diversity. All students deserve an education that provides meaningful growth academically, socially and emotionally.
Each year, every second grader in Jeffco takes The Cognitive Abilities Test (CogAT) which measures reasoning skills with different types of verbal, quantitative and nonverbal questions. The results of this test inform teachers which students may be identified as gifted and talented.
